Stone Tower 15K 2013

Had a good run on Sunday. I remembered this race on Saturday afternoon,so I inadvertently logged 49 miles by the end of the week-but I feel good. I am starting to feel stronger-need to keep the miles under control and be aggressive w/ the flexibility core work to keep injury free. Ran the 15k @ 7:40 pace, good enough for 19th place. The course was really good, lots of hills and single track.

Plugging away

Broke 140 miles for the month in August. That is my biggest for the year. Reading Jay Dicchary's Anatomy for Runners and it is making me think about a lot of things I may be missing in my training. The least of which is focus on proper core strength and posture. Keeping the runs averaging around 5 miles, but frequency is daily, including lots of rolling muscles, core work at night, and a weekly strength class for cross training. Feeling positive about my running for the first time in a while. Also managed to hit Lynn Woods racing 4 times this summer. Looking forward to some fall results if I can keep the momentum going injury free. I start night classes at Northeastern next week so we'll see how it goes. This might mean running in the am several days a week-ughh.

Yankee Homecoming 10 miler

First actual effort in over a year. About what I expected, I've got a long road ahead. My plan was to run a bit under 7:30 and see how I felt. 7:15 pace felt about what 6:45 pace felt like 2 years ago. Anyhow, I guess I can't be that upset as my base is about an average 18 mpw for the year. The effort accomplished what I hoped it would-motivation. Looking at doing some mild training for the Nahant 30k the end of september-Splits:
1-7:22
2-7:17/14:39
3-7:30/22:10
4-6:57/29:08
5-7:19/36:27
6-7:33/44:01
7-7:26/51:28
8-7:32/59:00
9-7:25/1:06
10-7:12/  Overall 1:13:37  Avg: 7:22 pace

Update

So......it has been over a year since I raced. That was the 1/2 Run to Remember, where my groin finally let go and I was subsequently sidlined for about 2 solid months. I have been struggling to get back at it, averaging a little over 20 miles a week. I think my biggest problem now is weight. I raced the marathon Fall of 2011 at 175lbs and I weighed myself last night at 190. I've had a bunch of calve issues and all around soreness. On the plus side I started doing a weight/circuit type class about once a week-I think this will help w/ some of my flexibility issues etc. I don't have any real specific goals, just to get my weight down, crosstrain for flexibility and log consistent miles.
